NJAC hosts its Annual Emancipation Day Open House Commemoration
The National Joint Action Committee (NJAC) will be hosting its Annual Emancipation Day Open House on Emancipation Day (Saturday 1 August, 2009) from 4:00 pm at NJAC Headquarters, # 40 Duke St. PO.S.
This commemoration is a Thanksgiving in the form of an Open Day Extravaganza at NJAC Headquarters, # 40 Duke Street, Port of Spain. The admission is free to the public.
There will be a cultural rally with calypso, dance, steelband music, drumming and other performing arts. In addition, there will be an art display and a film/video exhibition of documentaries relevant to the process of Emancipation.
This Emancipation, NJAC has chosen the theme “Light a Candle, Light a Deya, or Beat a Drum” as it strives toward ensuring that Emancipation Day is celebrated in every home.
The function is a component of a larger programme of rallies which will take place throughout the nation in various communities including: Belmont, Marabella, La Brea, Mayaro, Sangre Grande, and Matura/Toco. For further information, Tel: 623-5470 / 658-4094.
