Aaron Duncan was the first place winner in the 5-15 age group of the 13th Annual Emancipation Calypso Competition hosted on Saturday 29th August by the National Action Cultural Committee in association with First Citizens, at the SWWTU Hall, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain. Marion Paponette was the winner of the 15 – 30 age grouping. The results of the competitions, which were of a very high standard, are as follows:

5-15 age group

1st place – Aaron Duncan – I Like Freedom

2nd place – Ferdinand Smith – Why They Bother We

3nd place – Necoda Francis – African Children

4th place – Timel Rivas – Africa Remembered

5th place – Marq Pierre – Emancipation Jubilee

6th place – Tonya Small – Emancipation Came From

7th place – Jerrisha Regis – Liberation One Way


15-30 age group

1st place – Marion Paponette – Young Warrior

2nd place – Wendell Goodridge – Freedom Fighter

3rd place – Cindy Alleyne – The Dream

4th place – Sekon Alves – A Black Man’s Business

5th place – Natifah Phillips – Emancipate Your Mind

6th place – Whitney Moore – Our Ancestors Wish

7th place – Arnold Jordan – Oh Ni La Gi Oh

7th place – Tamika Harry – Woman

7th place – Cindy Chadband – Cherish We Identity
