KWASI MUTEMA

Bro. Kwasi Mutema is currently a member of the central executive and the Servant Director of Operations of the National Joint Action Committee (NJAC). He is also Chairman of the Northern Zone of NJAC. Bro. Mutema has been a member of NJAC for over twenty-eight years and during this time has held various positions within the organization. He is a former president of the National Youth Action Committee (the youth arm of NJAC), as well as formerly chairman of the National Action Cultural Committee (NACC).
Bro. Mutema received his early education at the Barataria Boys? R.C. School, following which he attended Fatima College and then the Polytechnic Sixth Form School where he completed his Advanced Level studies. After spending two years in the public service, Bro. Mutema was accepted for entry to The University Of The West Indies, St. Augustine to study Natural Sciences, however he forego his attendance to The University in order to devote himself to full time involvement in the struggle at a very early age, with the National Joint Action Committee. His experience in the struggle enabled him to eventually attain a Masters Degree in Buisness Administration from the Heriot Watt University in Scotland, despite not posessing a first degree.
Bro. Mutema has fully committed himself to the utilisation of his vast experience and knowledge towards assisting his people in their total development. this led to his acceptance of the responsibility as the people?s representative (candidate) for the constituency of Laventille East/Morvant in the 1986 General Elections on behalf of the National Joint Action Committee. Additionally, he has been delivering various lectures at a number of institutions and groups throughout the country, including the Butler Institute of Learning and Labour. Through his interaction with his people at the community level, he continuously performs the role of advisor, teacher, consultant and benefactor to many on a daily basis. however, he sees all this as part of his service to humanity.
