Caribbean Institute of Information and Research
The Caribbean Information Centre was established in 1982 with such aims as fostering the proper understanding of information and its significance to the development process in the Caribbean; working actively to collect relevant data; disseminating information by publishing, distributing, selling and otherwise, correctly and truthfully; to provide a proper library service; to exchange information with individuals as well as with National, Regional and International bodies; to provide research activity in the context of the overall development of the Caribbean region.
As such, the Caribbean Information Centre has engaged in activities as a conference on Information, Colonialism, Underdevelopment and Development in the Caribbean Region; a seminar on Privatisation; a document and book on Privatisation; a document on its parent body the National Joint Action Committee (NJAC) entitled “NJAC – 1970 – 1983”; the establishment of a Library to facilitate the public’s quest for knowledge and information and other activities geared towards the furtherance of its aims.
